Colorado was ranked the #1 state economy by U.S. News and World Report last year, but we cannot afford to rest on yesterday’s success in today’s global market. I’ll strive to use government resources to foster local companies and promote equal opportunity for success. We need to give tomorrow’s technologies and industries—renewable energy, 3D printing, transportation, and education—the same chance to succeed as our traditional industries. To do that, I will ensure a stable tax structure and an educated, adaptable workforce. I’ll propose legislation that keeps and expands the tax breaks for individuals and companies that invest in continuous education, so every worker has a chance to evolve with their company’s needs and Colorado’s economy. Most important, I’ll vote against any law that gives employees and entrepreneurs a reason to think that Colorado doesn’t value them, no matter their gender, race, sexual orientation, religion, or handicap. I will not accept a Colorado where anyone is denied an opportunity based on anything other than their talent for the job.
